Arctic Front Icicles
Hello everyone! Sitka has been experiencing an arctic front for a while now. It’s been in the teens. Brrrr… But it’s incredibly beautiful out there. The picture below was taken from the University of Alaska campus, across the channel, looking towards Fisherman’s Quay, Mount Verstovia and Arrowhead Peak.
The other three photos are the icicles inside our main salon. They’ve been there for several days now. Pretty, aren’t they, with the blue sky caught in the ice. My feet are keeping warm on one of those bags you warm up in your microwave oven, with my legs in a sleeping bag. Ahhh…
The forecast is for a gale to blow Wed. with snow in the forecast. It’s supposed to warm up a bit but who knows how much. This snow could be with us for a while yet. Mike used the red handtruck with the fat tires today to get the empty fuel barrels up to the gas station and back. Parts of the dock have 4 or 5 inches of ice to walk on.
Hope you’re staying warm!
