Dark Cloud - Snowy Morning

Well, it's another snowy day in Sitka. This is what it looked like this morning:

It's supposed to eventually turn to rain and then it's supposed to get really windy. Out in the Gulf of Alaska there are hurricane-force winds, and they're comin' our way. Batten down the hatches, matey!

Last night, as we were heading for bed, Mike happened to look out the window and saw something sitting on top of one of the pilings. He looked through the binoculars, and through the snow storm, to see a rack-rack bird (Great Blue Heron), as a local parrot calls them (that's what they sound like flying off), hunched down, with its long bill sticking out. Snow covered its back. It looked quite bleak, bird and weather. Here it is on a finer day:

I've been working at my part-time job lately at the Sitka Legislative Information Office so haven't had many opportunities to get out and snap photos. But Jennifer was here recently for the Sitka Artisans Market (check out their website later today, some photos of the event will be there) and Henry joined us one day for a walk at Totem Park. Below is the evidence:

Be well!
