Crossing America 2010 - Mammoth Hot Springs-Gardner River, Yellowstone N. P.

We drove up to Mammoth Hot Springs where Bill dropped us off for the afternoon. We got a late start - crack of noon - and with the distraction of the elks, didn’t start our planned hike along the Gardiner River until around 3pm (with a 5pm pickup). It was about 80 degrees. We had some cloud cover for part of the walk, which was nice. Mostly it was very sunny and hot.

Crossing America 2010 - Drive to Gardiner, MT from Grand Teton N. P.

We drove from Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming to Gardiner, Montana in just a few hours. Road construction slowed us up by about a half hour. It was the first nice day in a while. Once again, we saw many wonderous things. What amazing country.

Colter Bay in Grand Teton National Park has many options for hiking trails close by. This day, once again, started out rainy but cleared by early afternoon. We decided to stretch our legs on the Lakeshore Trail.

Crossing America 2010 - Heron Pond-Swan Lake Hike

After 4 days of too much riding in the truck we were ready to get out for a hike. We chose something close by - the Heron Pond-Swan Lake loop near our campsite at the Colter Bay RV park in Grand Teton National Park. It started raining and we dressed accordingly but the sun appeared and it turned into another beautiful day.

Crossing America 2010 - One Day in Yellowstone

We took a day to drive into Yellowstone National Park especially to see Old Faithful. We also continued on past, stopped at Biscuit Basin and the Little Firehole River, and drove a loop that brought us south along the Yellowstone River and Lake. We saw elk and bison. Amazing country.

Crossing America 2010 - Grand Teton National Park

On Day 1 we drove through Jackson, Wyoming past the National Elk Refuge and through part of Grand Teton National Park to the Colter Bay RV Park.

On Day 2 we explored Willow Flats Overlook, Oxbow Bend Turnout, drove the loop of the Teton Park Road and Signal Mountain Road. It rained and thundered off and on with bits of sun and blue sky now and then.

Traveling mostly Routes 25 then 80 through Wyoming as far as Jackson in the Jackson Hole valley. Many pictures were taken from a rapidly moving truck.

Summer in Maine, 2010

These are photos in a Picassa web album (click on the image to take yourself there) and are from my 2.5 weeks in Maine this year. I’m now on my way west with sister Karen and husband Bill in their pickup hauling a 40′ 5th-wheel RV, their home. Saratoga Springs, NY next and then Sedalia, CO. Enjoy!
